Commissioned by The Greater London Authority (GLA) we have partnered with Sian Penner from Community Collective to support the YPAV steering group. (Young people affected by violence) The YPAV steering group is made up of 20 sports organisations and young people from across London that use sport to engage and divert young people from the risk of violence.
The steering group brings the organisations and young people to work together to identify solutions that support positive and healthy life choices for young people engaged in sport and affected by violence.
The YPAV steering group worked together to identify 4 priority areas; Safety, Mental Health, Access to Opportunity and Influencing Change and is now working to identify and test these priority areas through pilot projects.
The outcome is to encourage GLA internal collaboration to support the work of YPAV, influencing policy of strategic partner, use of sport to support young people affected by violence, young people at the heart of the steering group.
Our role involves planning and co-facilitating a series of Steering Group meetings, young people only meetings and Internal GLA meetings.
